This week saw our first competitive derby with the visit of Dunmow Rhodes Lions, and what a derby this was. Two teams that wanted to be on top and boy were there some challenges and passion demonstrated by two evenly matched Dunmow teams.
The Vikings were made to work hard this week. After some cricket scores over last 3 weeks, and me feeling we are in the wrong Division, this week we welcomed Galleywood Falcons, who were a tough outfit. The fact we won convincingly made it a great Sunday for the Vikings.
The Vikings continue our great run with another convincing victory this week. Having 9 players available gave us a great opportunity to showcase the talent of nearly all the team and boy did it show. Very early on Henry smashed home a shot into the roof of the net pretty close to the halfway line and this set the tone for the game.
So fiting, Bonfire Night started with fireworks for our Vikings. On the back of last weeks win, the Vikings went into todays game full of confidence, desire and enjoyment. Having 9 of our 10 Vikings available, meant that the touch paper was well and trully lit at Kick Off.
The England U17's brought the World Cup home on the 28th Oct - and the Vikings, brought home our first win in similar style on the 29th Oct .
It was good to get back on the pitch this week, after last weeks game. We welcomed Rayne Youth and despite weakening of storm Brian, the team were braced for a choppy game
Sunday 15th October will be remembered for our first 'Derby Day' despite the U7 & U8 League being in meltdown over re-alignment of teams. Ross & I , were both more than happy to get the game on.
Today, we weren't just Vikings, we were also Spartans. Outnumbered with only 5 players, no time for a rest and yet an awesome display by these giants - Henry, Cullen, Joshua, Maksim and Angus......
After last weeks start, we repeated the same mistake at the start of this game giving a 3 goal lead away. I will be onto the Charity commission as surely we are one of the most charitable teams at the start of the game.
I have heard on TV when commentators say that was a 'Game of two Halves' - and this game proved that.
