DUFC Vikings vs Sporting Kestrel 77 Youth

I have heard on TV when commentators say that was a 'Game of two Halves' - and this game proved that.
Picture
Starting off as though the players had been out celebrating the night before, Vikings quickly found themselves 2 goals down. Cullen, back this week got us back a goal with a lovely break and it looked like we were back in it. However, despite some cracking saves from Jessica in goal, at one point making a couple of double saves, Vikings conceeded another 3.

Half time enabled us to regroup and the players knew that the defending was poor. They all took this on board and came out firing on all cyclinders. William, as always, was all over the pitch pushing the team on, making some great tackles and runs down the line. He pulled us back a couple of goals, along with Maksim getting his first, before the Kestrels added another 2.

However, this was the turning point for the Vikings, and with Angus, Bastien and Joshua, making some great tackles and sweeping up any loose balls, it gave us a platform to attack. Bastien in goal smothered any thing that was loose and distributed the ball well. Cullen, Angus and William took some hard tackles but rode through them wonderfully, no arguments or retaliation. Staying on their feet enabled us to press and put more pressure on. Jessica was linking up well with them in the middle of the park and for the second week had a run on goal where she was unfortunate that the goalie was alert to the shot. Jayden, took up several attacking positions and was in perfect positioning to score 2 calmly finished goals after the goalie saved shots from William and Maksim.
As Vikings applied more pressure, there was only one team in the ascendency. every attack we looked like scoring. Some great throw ins from Joshua to William, which was innovative from the players and added an attacking threat for us. Finally, the pressure completed the comeback with Maksim scoring the 7th goal to draw a pulsating and enjoyable game. The Vikings are a team that plays as one and fights to the end. So proud of the performance.
