First victory for the Sharks

With this being only the team’s second game within the league we are still trying to find our way, with every opposition we play a chance to learn and to improve as a team and as individuals too.

The game got off to a good start with the Sharks scoring first, this time it was Elliott with a blistering strike that left the opposition goal keeper rooted to the spot.  The opposition then struck back drawing the game level after some good play down the right hand side beating our goalkeeper, Jack, from close range.

The Sharks then showed the same battling spirit from the previous week and struck back to take the lead again through Freddie with his first goal for the club.  The game continued to be back and forth until the opposition drew level again with some smart play and shot, this brought some very happy scenes from the opposition players and fans alike.

After taking stock of what happened and the game being levelled once more, it was pleasing to see the Sharks start to dominate the play with some stout defending from all of the team working hard for each other making sure that nothing got through.  With some good attacking play the Sharks started pushing for another goal to retake the lead, this duly happened with strikes from Jake with his first of the match and sixth for the club, another good goal from Elliott making that his second of the game and Freddie also bagged his second goal to put the Sharks into a commanding lead at half time.

A big thank you to Harry who kindly volunteered to take over goalkeeper duties from Jack for the second half.  The 2nd half started as the first had finished; with the Sharks pushing hard for more goals, but it was pleasing to see that the Sharks were defending very well restricting the opposition to limited amount of shots that they were able to have, and with this solid defending it was now a case of trying to score more goals and to see who will get there hat trick first, Freddie or Elliott.   Jack claimed the honour of scoring the next goal with an outrageous lob from just inside the oppositions half, and then it was Freddie who stepped up and claimed his third goal of the game, with some brilliant play from Liam in midfield supported by Josh who was giving his all for the team once again.  Even though, Liam and Josh didn’t score in this game they were vitally important to the success of team working hard and providing assists for the players that did score.  Jake then stepped up and scored two more good goals completing another hat trick making that two hat tricks in two games.   It was Freddie that finished off the scoring for the Sharks, scoring his fourth of the game.  Other than scoring goals, it was pleasing to see that the boys defended well, passed the ball brilliantly and created chances for each other.

So we move on to the next game high in confidence and in good spirits, looking forward to our next challenge as a team and as players growing each time we play. Well done Sharks for having a great game and well done boys you should be proud of yourselves.

Come on you Sharks.
