Only 5 players available for this game and with the temperatures hitting 24 degrees, we had a task on our hands.
Our plan was to rotate the goalie across 4 players all having 10 minutes just to give them some respite. This worked well and we started with Bastien in goal, William, Josh, Henry (C) & Angus so pretty confident with the strength on pitch today. We started very well and the boys were patient and playng the ball around. Our first effort by Josh was saved by their goalkeeper who proved out to be a very good goal keeper and saved many shots. William had 2 shots saved in quick succession before William cooly slotted in with his left, a very nice move.
Changing goalkeepers saw Angus go betwene the sticks and he came out very bravely to smoother a shot, taking a whack in the process. He shook it off and then up the other end a high deflection from a corner saw Josh volley home sweetly into the left bottom corner. Henry and William were playing the space brilliantly and cross field passes nearly paid off. Half time we came out with Henry in goal and continued our controlled play that was helping us in the heat. William undertook a lovely mazy run finishing as he normally does, with finese. Angus made a lovely run and then Henry was denied by an excellent save. We continued to put the pressure on and Bastien sent a rocket into the bottom right corner after I thought we had lost the momentum. Unfortunately he was so happy his celebration resulted in him landing badly and twisting his knee so we took him off.
Undetered the boys continued with the passing game and scored after a great pass and move with Henry. William added to his tally with another 2 and in between Josh made a nice save to keep our clean sheet in tact. Really pleased for the whole team today as on the back of a couple of tough games and this showed the continued development of the Vikings.
