Dunmow United Stingrays vs Chelmsford City Whites

16/9/2017

Saturday 16th September 2017: A great start to the season for the Stingrays in this rearranged game from last weekend against our visitors Chelmsford City Whites.

Right from the kick off the Stingrays kept possession and pushed hard and were in front within the first minute with fine work and a fine pass from Jasiu C into Ollie W who beat two players and passed the ball into the corner of the goal.

The Stingrays continued to dominate, with the most pleasing aspect being all the boys staying in their positions and working hard to get back when not in possession. In defence, Ollie R and George D were as solid as usual, mopping up when required and with George W playing in midfield also getting back to add his fine defending skills as well as getting forward when in possession.

Midway through the first half  Ryan E added a 2nd with a fine left foot finish, a reward for all his hard work which continued throughout. Soon after, our two debutants entered the field, Sam S on the right wing and Spencer S on the left. Neither looked out of place and both performed superbly throughout, earning them a joint MotM award - a great start and both great additions to the Stingrays.
At half time, George D went into goal with Freddie G coming out to lead the line, which he did with great effect adding two more before the opposition added a fine consolation with a superb volley from a great cross.

The game finished 4-1 but what was most pleasing is it seemed like the boys had never been away - playing as a team, passing, working hard to get forward to attack and back to defend when required.

A great performance to start the Stingrays season - well done all!
